Welcome to Puppet Life.
I’ve always been drawn to music that tells a story, not just through its lyrics but through the music itself. My first favorite song was “The Boxer” by Simon and Garfunkel (Ok fine, my FIRST favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine” when I was 2… but you know what I mean). What a journey that song takes you on! But when I was 7 years old and first heard “Layla” by Eric Clapton, I think my brain exploded. A seven minute song, building toward literally the highest guitar solo I’ve heard to this day, and then crashing into a completely different universe - a delicate, beautiful, understated piano ballad. I wanted to make music like that. Music that could awaken in other people what awoke in me that day.
Now, I get that feeling from the huge, bold sounds you might hear in Melodic Dubstep (have you heard The “Creation” EP by Seven Lions? No? I’ll wait…). I’m hungry for music that has an element of something progressive while staying true to what genuinely feels good, and what could be more progressive than inventing your own sounds from scratch?? This is what draws me to electronic music. What a time we live in, when anyone can sit down at a computer and create sounds that have never before been heard in human history. Wild!
So my goal as an artist is to make music that pops, does something new, and most of all means something. Enjoy!
