My Goal

Imagine how hard it would be to memorize a speech in a language you didn’t speak. Unfortunately, that’s how most people learn music. So instead, my goal is to help students understand the language of music, just like professional musicians do, so you can play the music you love with a sense of confidence, independence, and knowledge.

Lessons are completely tailored to your goals, and we can fluidly mix any of these topics (and more!). But here are the basic tracks:

What You'll Do:

Ear Training - recognize notes, melodies, and chords, just the way you recognize words and sentences you hear.
Learn to play, sing, or reproduce your favorite songs
Improvise and write your own melodies, chord progressions, and arrangements
Gain a deep understanding of how notes come together in all different ways to create the music you love
Analyze the elements of your favorite songs, to understand why they work and how to capture the magic for yourself.
Learn the elements of general skill training that can be applied to literally anything else you want to learn!
(Production Only) Learn how sound works, and how the buttons and knobs we push and pull actually affect that sound, so that no matter what DAW you work with you will have the confidence of an expert.

What You WON'T Do:

Buy expensive or inaccurate sheet music.
Learn songs you couldn’t care less about.
Get funneled into a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Rely solely on external help from teachers and books for the rest of your life.
Memorize obscure music terms that don’t actually help you.

Full Hour Lesson - $90

1/2 Hour Lesson - $50

A full hour gives us enough time to warm up, review concepts from last time, ask and answer new questions, learn new ideas, and work on real music! But if a full hour isn't right for you, a 30 minute option is available as well. (Right now you can't sign up for a half hour through Calendly, but you can email me directly to set it up)
